Navy Vessels: Visby Class

The Visby is the latest class of Corvette to be adopted by the Royal Swedish Navy. The ship's design heavily emphasizes low visibility or stealth technology. The first ship in the class is named after Visby, the main city on the island of Gotland.

The ships are designed by the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) and built for the Swedish Navy by the Swedish company Kockums (a subsidiary of ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems of Germany).

High-tech all over

The design of the Visby aims to minimise the optical and infrared signature, above water acoustic and hydroacoustic signature, underwater electrical potential and magnetic signature, pressure signature, radar cross section and actively emitted signals.

Loipart´s commitment

Loipart and Electrolux was chosen as the supplier for galley and laundry appliances on these highly advanced vessels where reliability and sturdiness are key-words.
